Radiation Roots present a reissue of Sly & Robbie's Master Of Ceremony Dub. Master rhythm duo Sly and Robbie first met on the Jamaican club scene of the early 1970s, when both were playing clubs on Kingston's Red Hills Road. They began working together at Channel One studio when Sly was drummer and arranger of The Revolutionaries and Robbie the bassist mainstay of Bunny Lee's Aggrovators and soon became the most in-demand drum and bass team on the island.

This obscure dub album, originally released on the Imperial label in Canada, was produced by Lee in the late 1970s, and has the Rhythm Twins trying their hands at updating classic rhythms such as "The Liquidator," "Death In The Arena," "It's Raining," "Love Me Forever" and "My Conversation," as well as killer cuts of Johnnie Clarke's "Roots Natty Congo," Gregory Isaacs' "Storm" and an odd "Legalize It" rendition, plus some wacky between-song interjections. A must for all dub devotees.

Up next from Mood Hut we have the debut LP from Local Artist aka Ian Wyatt. Previously known for his underground party starters Dancer and Touch Tone. This time Ian takes us further towards the intimate end of the radio dial, recording music as a way of processing the emotions of watching his father and partner battle cancer pre-pandemic. Themes of love, loss and life emerge in a moody brew to help you through. In Local Artist’s world, the sun is setting on our old selves. Tonight is a slow ritual of letting go to gradually make room for the new. We’ve been up all night. It’s almost dawn and beyond the horizon, we can trust the light that morning brings.
When dubwise music really started to come into its own in the early to mid 70s, it made overnight stars of backroom boys who had hitherto worked behind a mixing desk to serve those who were beginning to hoist reggae to an international stardom that it had long deserved, but that it had only achieved on short and non-sustained bursts until Chris Blackwell decided to throw a lot of promotion and money at the work of Bob Marley and his fellow Wailers in 1972. Of those men, there was no bigger star than the late Osbourne Ruddock, the great King Tubby’s and the man who, from a tiny home-made studio in the Waterhouse district of Kingston, Jamaica, did more than most to reposition the boundaries that production and mixing of Jamaican recordings.
The Lost Albums In Jamaican Bass Player, Bandleader, Songwriter, Singer And Producer Boris Gardiner'sDiscography - First Official Issue Of These Impossibly Rare Albums.Contains Extensive Booklet, With Jeff Mao Detailing Gardiner's Career And The 70s Jamaican Music Industry. Unpublished Photos And Ephemera.1970s Jamaica suffered an unprecedented stretch of political turmoil and violence, and as the country’s economy and morale collapsed, reggae and its offshoots exploded worldwide. Boris Gardiner enjoyed great success leading bands, issuing albums that mixed reggae, ska, soul and funk, and collaborating with the likes of Lee (Scratch) Perry and Herman Chin-Loy in their legendary studios and playing on hundreds of records. So many that he lost count.Sometime around the issue of his Boris Gardiner Happening Is What’s Happening album - a Loft classic, with David Mancuso favoring Gardiner’s take of Booker T. and the MG’s “Melting Pot” at his legendary gathering - and his soundtrack to Every N----r Is A Star, famously sampled by Kendrick Lamar and used as the introduction to the film Moonlight, two albums - Ultra Super Dub Vols. 1 and 2 - credited to The Boris Gardiner Happening- two albums so obscure that for the longest time Boris wasn’t even aware that they existed.Following classics such as King Tubby’s Dub From the Roots and Augustus Pablo’s King Tubbys MeetsRockers Uptown, Miami-based Alty East’s Ultra Records took instrumentals Gardiner created for a run of 45s, and created and issued these compilations of dubbed out originals and JA renditions of songs by Otis Redding, Clarence Carter, Betty Wright, Jimmy “Bo” Horne and Ultra label-mate Frankie Zhivago Young. Released in tiny runs in handmade, silkscreened, paste-on covers, they have become some of the most sought after Jamaican albums. Now, issued under Boris’ guidance, and with a detailed booklet by Jeff Mao, which delves into the deep scene which birthed these remarkable records, we can finally consider the last, unheard portion of this landmark musician’s career.
Ashanti Selah joins the Dub Junction family with another killer production, that despite being over 5 years in the making, arrives at the perfect time in 2022 to spread the essential message of equal rights and justice across the world. Once an instrumental dubplate to be played exclusively by Iration Steppas, debuting at Dub Camp 2016, a link-up with Sweden's Dan-I Locks (of Deng Deng Hi-Fi) saw the revolutionary lyrics penned and a longstanding partnership formed. Bring in the magical horns from Berlin's Vale and the dream team delivers a truly uplifting soundsystem anthem for these crucial times. Limited run of 500 records, cut to heavyweight 180g vinyl.
